Cumulopedia: Precipitation

Rain is a form of precipitation that is primarily water and forms when separate droplets of water fall to Earth from clouds. Rain that evaporates before reaching the ground is called virga.

Formation of rainEdit

Rain plays a role in the precipitation phase of the hydrologic cycle. One scientific explanation of the formation of rain and rainfall is called the Bergeron process. Rain can be formed in several ways, most important of which are orographic, convective, frontal, and human causes.
